Dream it yourself: 29 pages Dreamcast feature in GamesTM

DCDayDreamer posted some great news at DCEmu UK and LavaLit.com:

The latest issue of GamesTM magazine (UK based gaming mag) has a retro special celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Dreamcast, four out of the twenty nine page feature are dedicated to homebrew development on the retro console.

Among those mentioned are Chui, DCEvolution, GOAT, the Beats of Rage scene, YuanWorks’ Wind & Water: Puzzle Battles, and the upcoming commercial games such as Senile’s Rush Rush Rally Racing, patbier and poche’s Dynamite Dreams, Cryptic Allusion’s Donk, and HuCast’s DUX.

There were some scene members interviewed, including Neill Corlett for his work on the Dreamcast ports of Beats of Rage and Rush Rush Rally Racing. Chui talks about his current work on a PS1 emulator, and a good part of the article covers the compilations available at DCEvolution.net.

The homebrew section misses out a lot of releases and in particular important coders within the scene, but it does show the scene is very much alive (if not kicking all the time).

General GamesTM readers have posted some positive reviews about the Dreamcast feature, here’s the official magazine forum thread:
