Quzar has taken the former NeoGeo/SDL project and added a mass of improvements and so the Dreamcast console gets its second NeoGeo CD emulator, heres the fullinfo of whats new from Quzar himself:
“This is a revision and continuation of Ian Micheal’s port of Fosters’ NeoCD/SDL which was a port of Fabrice Martinez’ NeoCD emulator. Special thanks goes to all those who helped Ian early on while porting this including (in literally no particular order): Mekanizer, fackue, Kamjin, Fosters, GPF, BlackAura, BlueCrab, and Wack0.
This release has quite a few things improved from the last IMR tech release (9.3).
Fixed in v1:
VMU code modified so now the program does not hang on boot if no vmu is inserted
Now there is proper timing on PAL systems.
There is now a proper method for keeping the emulator running at 100% speed
Fixed the 2.5 second lag in CDDA tracks playing, may resolve other issues
The screen is now the proper aspect ratio and is all displayed.
Improved load times
Rendering optimized for some more speed gain
Default region automagically set to that of your Dreamcast
Slightly less SDL dependance moving towards complete SDL independance
Regarding sound effects…. Please understand that at the moment there are still no sound effects or any sort of synthesized sound in the emulator, and the only sound you can get in it will be CDDA, if it works in that particular game. This will change in a future version barring irrugular circumstances.
For more information about the previous projects that made this one possible, all the documentation of those who made it possible, and other information, see the various readme files included with the binary and sourcecode releases. “
