FreeSCI 0.3.4 released

FreeSCI is a portable re-implementation of the SCI interpreter used in many of Sierra On-Line, Inc.’s computer games (particularly in those published from 1988 to 1996). It allows games such as Leisure Suit Larry 2 and 3, Quest for Glory 1 or Space Quest 3 to be played on modern computers.
The current ‘stable’ development branch (0.3.x) only supports the first version of SCI games, which were limited to 16 color graphics and used a parser-driven interface (with some limited mouse support).

Slightly over a year after the last release, FreeSCI 0.3.4 has now been made available for download. This release features a large number of bugfixes, plus the following new features:
* Adlib emulation for PCM devices (Solomon Peachy)
* Dreamcast port (Walter van Niftrik)
* MorphOS port (Ruediger Hanke)
* DirectX 8.0a graphics driver (Alexander Angas)
* Sound support on IRIX (Rainer Canavan)
* Optional on-screen debug console
* DirectFB full-screen console graphics driver

Simultaneously, a developers’ release of the experimental ‘glutton’ branch, 0.6.0, has been published; this release features a completely re-written virtual machine and a number of other changes in preparation for support for SCI01 (and later) games. Again, this is a developer-only release; while most games supported in 0.3.4 seem somewhat playable in it, it does not feature
savegame or complete sound support.
