PCSX being ported to DC!

Yup, straight from PSXFanatics, here is the news.

“First off I would like to give a big thank you to Mark Grilenkov for allowing PSX Fanatics to post about his wonderful Project. What is the project you might ask? Well Mark is porting over PCSX to the DreamCast, which is very exciting not only for all of us, but for the PCSX Team as well. linuzappz first told me about this project and we discussed how nice it was that people are now using the recently OpenSourced PCSX for porting to other platforms and Operating Systems. This will be the first, to my knowledge, Free Playstation Emulator ported to another gaming console. I also must add that this is still in development stages and no release date has been announced. Mark did send me a progress report, and some very nice screens that I will post below.

Things that don’t work (at the moment):
– no sound
– CD-ROM is only supported with .bin-images
– no pad configuration (the DC controller has 3 buttons less than the PSX controller)
– slow fps rate, because of the usage of P.E.Op.S SoftGPU (I’m trying to write a version using the PowerVR features of the DC)
– movies are distorted
– no memcards saving/loading
– configuration couldn’t saved to/loaded from VMU

And now the good news. This is much shorter 🙂
– reasonable fast CPU emulation (this will get even faster, when I have implemented the GTE opcodes in the recompiler -> the DC supports several geometric operations on its own)
– SoftGPU works 😉
– tested several games: Tommi Makinen Ralley, Discworld, Tai Fu, Excalibur 2555, FIFA2002, S.C.A.R.S (all working)
Tomb Raider 4 (crashes after several minutes)”
