Drxlax Beta Released!

Daniel Fairchild has been creating a 2D multiplayer game for the Dreamcast. Here is what was in the e-mail from the DCDev mailing list.

“My 2D game (drxlax) is comming along real nicely) it has 4 players support, and I’ve tested it with a few friends recently who are hardcore gamers. They really liked it, and we sat there for hours, game jamming in a way, with them playing and me tweaking the code for better gameplay =D

My player-models are surrounded by a round forecefield, and I want them to bounce of eachother instead of passing through as they do now.
But my understanding of physics have gotten a bit rusty since “High School” (danish Gymnasium actually). So I was wondering if any of you could suggest me a good routine for the bouncing collision behaviour of 2 round objects that hit eachother in 2D space.

If you want a better understanding of what I’m talking about, download this early version of my game at: Download

Control with analogue joystick and right trigger, charge the shot with ‘A’ and change form with ‘B’

If you only have one controller connected to the DC when you run my program, it will controll all the players, something that comes in really handy in my testing of the code.

I now this list is a bit slow because of the moderation, but I’ll just add some nice particle eksplosions while I’m waiting for your replies.

And btw. FSAA support in KOS would be nice (Simon where art thou?;-))

best regards”

Thanks to Daniel Fairchild for the news and the early release! Suggested to be tested out by people with serial cables/BBAs/Lan Adapters only, or if your really wanting to see it, try it out on a CDR.
