DCDivX FAQs Answered; Audio Problems Solved

Many people have complained of strange audio problems when trying to convert their clips to be DCDivX compatible, and I have finally isolated the cause: non-standard sampling rates cause VirtualDUB to either choke on the Conversion, or to not show up any compression options at all.

I’ve put together a kit, including instructions, on how to extract the audio, convert it to a proper MP3, and remultiplex it with the video. To go along with it, I’ve put up a little Mini-FAQ that should answer all the most common questions.

I’ve waited for a while to do anything about DCDivX, as it was very immature. I believe that it’s now improving technically, and it’s time to improve it’s usability. A DCFactory script is on it’s way, along with automated tools to convert various media to the proper DivX format … Stay tuned.
