Judging from the e-mails I’ve been getting, I know that a lot of you are hanging out for every little bit of information about the DC DivX players that are being worked on, so here’s some more news from the Project Mayo DivX topic. VampMan has asked the guys working on it if they plan on releasing more versions of the player after they get the first usable version out, here’s gottahavit’s reply:
“ I’m not really sure what will happen once I get an initial port working to a useable state. As I am not the best person to be writing the UI/functionality of the player, I may fire up an OpenSource project here, or elswhere release the code to the real DC programmers and just moderate as necessary. I would of course continue to port any modifications/enhancements to the core decoder as they are made to PocketDivx. In fact I may try to work it out that the two actually share the source for the decoder.
All this is still up in the air though, but more than likely I will expect some backup from the DC programming community to keep this going.“
