DCGrendel has updated his site with this news:
Updated the download section with some new files (sorry, no new doom yet) including patches for enabling a (incomplete) kos service wrapper for lwip, a inetd & httpd package, a SLIP driver, and the Interrupt driven SCIF driver. As far as doom goes, its quite near release, the delay involved the vmu saving not working whatsoever and pausing to let someone look at my storequeue code and try to optimize it a bit better.
This version will DEFINATLY contain the following:
Doom Guy’s face on the VMU (blood & all)
Level Passwords similar to other console dooms (SNES, N64, etc)
Storequeued video frame buffer for higher framerates
Average In-Game frame rates of 28-32 FPS
Better Controls (Weapon switching, among other issues)
Interlaced blacklines for that “HiRez” Feel (can be disabled)
PAL Support (automatic startup in unit region, can be overridden)
Speaker swapping & phase inversion options (Audio shiznit)
Cheats Menu
Things that have been scrapped:
Music (this version)
Interpolated video (forever, it sucked)
Networking (this version, API not there yet, but almost)
Hardware Palette Decoding

Hey all!
Just thought an update on Dreamcast Doom (call it what you will)
was in order, so here I go,
Shortly after announcing the release date, I ran into major problems with the VMU saving that I thought I had fixed (stupid me downloaded an older version of the vmu fs stuff ontop of the fixed version and killed it) so it was back to the drawing board, and I’ve scrapped VMU saves for now, instead theres a password that is displayed at the end of each level on the intermission screen, to return to that point af
ter restarting you enter the password into a menu that looks remarkibly like the Load/Save menus 🙂
As for some of the features you all wanted (networking, music) I’ve had to scrap them for now, allong with the crappy interpolated video that just slowed things down and looked blurry. Good news is weapon switching is in, and works 99% of the time, it occassionally has issues if you have no ammo for everything and try to switch to an invalid weapon (bfg in shareware for example) other than that everything works quite nicely and I should have the release out soon.
Thank You all for your support, without it I would have given up long ago.
