Next Smeg will have limited VCS emulation.
I took a week and a few days off from working Smeg and started a VCS emulator (after having studied VCS hardware and programming manuals for a while before that). And it runs with sound, and plays a number of games, but doesn’t play any game quite correctly -this was due to me not realizing that nearly every VCS game depends on being able to do mid-raster updates, which I have no support for currently (other than for sprite positioning).I’ll have to rewrite my graphics routines from scratch as well as many of my memory handlers. But I figure I’ll sneak it in a future release of Smeg so that people can try it out without wasting a whole disc on it (just stick the VCS roms in their own directory and forget about them if you don’t want to play around with it anymore).
