I would like to first clean up some things. First of all, I did NOT make this emulator. I was just messing with it. A dc warez group originally created it although I consider it (the emulator) not really warez.
Here is the deal, the Sega Smash Pack was built with some type of emulator for a few of its games on the disk. The group echelon managed to seperate just the emulation program ( which was originally developed by steve snake and bought by sega ) thus making it just an emulator like the rest currently availible. Although it was ripped from the cd, it is not meant to be illegal (by me and dcemu). Just because the group released it and sega programmed it I believe its not totally illegal. But, because there are several people who believe this is hurting sega a tremendoes ammount I am going to remove the emulator for now. The BIG one that we created with roms for now until I think things over and think of a plan. Thus, you will need to try and find it somewhere else or figure out how to burn it the correct way.
My stance on DC WAREZ remains the same. I do not promote NOR agree on any of its precedings. DC Warez is what killed sega and im totally against it. This emulator is an emulator this site is for emulation thus I felt the need to inform the community of its happenings. I love sega and I love dreamcast. I have over 70 games bought.
As for the keeping it availible, my fserv has practically died. Over the maximum ques have been exceded and its crazy how many people want it so bad. I feel many of you just want it because it is somewhat related to warez. Thus, why I am removing it from my fserv. Why would you only come for warez. Is dcemulation not exciting enough for it to be COMPLETELY free, so you are to lazy to get it? I believe that is completely wrong. So all you warez people can go away now. We will remain warez free.
In this statement im hoping I can work something out with sega and maybe sega can make us other emulators and such. Sega seems to have given up on this dc warez but I havent. I believe we should support sega still, however we can. Thus, I say they should release more emulators just for the community whether it gets warezed or not for there are way to many lamers out there now.
The last thing, I will continue to release the echelon regular release as well as a boot cd version UNLESS sega asks me to remove it. I believe it is safe and has nothing to do with the smash pack considering the SMASH PACK is more then just ROMS! It is other things as well. As a result me and KillaKow will every now and then teach anyone with fast internet connections how to make these self boots work. A tutorial also will be made but you may run into problems.
I guess this is the end of my lecture and I hope you can all get your hands on my DJ with roms. DO NOT ASK ME TO GIVE IT TO YOU! I WILL BAN YOU ON THE SPOT FROM THE CHAT ROOM!!
