Many people are concerned about this sega information and many people are either worried or are ready to abandon there systems. Well, DO NOT DO IT! Sega is far from dead. The articles on the net all assume wrong things. One of our fellow DCEmu fans (W N Worth) wrote just what I was planning on writing it myself but he did a better job. Here is things to clear everything up.
“Since everyone has been saying the DC is dead for the past 9 months I’d like to point out a few things about the latest announcement.
A) The Price Drop: Cnet claims the price drop was due to Sega wanting to liquidate it’s assets. That’s bull. When do game companies do price drops? When a new system come on the market. The price drop should have come when the PS2 came out but with so few PS2s available it was post-poned until now. No big deal. If they wanted to liquidate there assets they would have dropped it to $50. This is marketing, not liquidation.
B) The end of DC production by SEGA: Now, just because Sega isn’t making them anymore doesn’t mean a thing. The DC will be incorporated into set top boxes and other nifty things, and you just know majestico (the ppl who made the Genesis 3) will be making new DCs in 3 months. Frankly, this might work better for the DC.
C) There are still lots of good games set for release and it that’s not enough the homebrew possibilities are the best of any console ever. The fact that homebrewers can port PC games to the DC (see Quake 1 for the DC as an example) as well as several emulators in production (also the DCMp3 player and DCQ) should cement the DC’s future as a peoples console. And correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t there 6 million DCs in home across the US? And have you seen the list of games that are due out in the next few months? Crazy Taxi 2, come on!
The Media just likes to hype, don’t let it phase you.”
As I said, I could not of put it better myself. Such a great DC Fan thinks things like this.
I would also like to thank the MANY other fans out there who sent me similar emails and points. They were all great!!! 🙂
